FAQ - Laser Hair Removal
A: At AH Laser Aesthetics we understand that everyone’s pain threshold is different. Some people describe their experience with laser hair removal as a slight sting and others say the sensation is more pronounced.
The feeling is only evident at the time we pulse the laser. Once the technician stops pulsing the laser, the sensation stops. For those individuals that experience discomfort during the laser hair removal process, a topical anesthetic can be used. Compared to electrolysis and waxing, most clients should find the laser hair removal process tolerable.
A: Laser Hair Removal treatments at AH Laser Aesthetics are conveniently priced for the different treatment areas. The individual treatments are very affordable.
Patients can pay for Laser Hair Treatments as they are performed or can take advantage of our special package discounts. We often have special promotions on our various services and offer Financing options through Care Credit.
Be sure to discuss financing options with your aesthetician during your initial consultation.
A: The laser emits a very specific light beam that is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for a fraction of second. The duration of the pulses have been carefully determined so that enough energy is absorbed by the hair follicle to disable growth but not so much that excess heat is transferred to the surrounding skin. The result is safe and effective hair removal.
A: Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. The laser uses a wide beam that treats hundreds of hair follicles at once instead of treating hair by hair like electrolysis. Because of this, large areas such as legs, arms, or a back can be treated in a short amount of time. You can shave in between Laser Hair Removal Treatments unlike electrolysis. You will see results that last far longer than tweezing, waxing, shaving, chemical depilation or other temporary methods.
A: Laser Hair Removal Treatments at AH Laser Aesthetics can last from ten minutes to an hour or more depending on the size of the area and number of areas to be treated during that appointment. Please allow for some extra time for paperwork during your first treatment.
A: Most people need an average of 5-6 laser hair removal treatments. However we understand that everyone is different with different hormonal levels, medical influences, hair density and rate of growth so each individual reacts to Laser Hair Removal differently.
A: At AH Laser Aesthetics we use equipment FDA approved for permanent hair reduction. The laser disables the blood supply feeding hair follicles ensuring that that particular follicle will not grow back. That hair follicle is permanently destroyed. However there is a small chance that there are inactive hair follicles in the body which become active at a later stage in life. This will result in some minor hair growth which can easily be treated with a maintenance treatment.
A: Within several minutes after a laser hair removal treatment, the treated area may become slightly red. Some people experience a sensation similar to mild sunburn. This reaction subsides within a few minutes to a few hours and the area returns to normal. Since the laser does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary. You are able to reapply your make-up, return to work, and continue with your normal daily activities.
